My name is Todd D. Boucher. I am an IMBA ICP Mountain Bike Instructor and Ride Guide, a MTB racer and snowboarder with goals of making the 2018 Paralympics in Snowboard Cross. I am also a below knee amputee. With all the abuse I put my body through I have created sores on my leg that's inside the prosthesis.
About 2 years ago I had a sore that turned into a wound that I could not get to heal. I tried every over the counter medicine and prescription medicine I could find that had hope in healing it. I couldn't wear my leg because the pain was so bad. I was sitting in my living room and thought there had to be something to help heal wounds. So I tried GOOGLE, up popped honey! I was ready to jump up and race to the kitchen and slather my leg in whatever was in the cupboard. As I kept reading, it turned out that it was a specific honey, a mono-floral honey made from MANUKA Trees. So I did a little research to help understand the differences after seeing there were different ratings. 25+ was the highest I saw and a company called PHOENIX HONEY, the only one they offered was the high potency 25+. Needless to say I ordered a jar.
It showed up at my door in a few days. I took some sterile applicators and covered the wound, then placed a dressing over it to keep the area moist and the honey in place. After a few days the clear dressing started to come up on the sides, so I thought I'd take it off and reapply another dressing. I couldn't believe how much it had healed in those 3 days! I reapplied the dressing the same way and in a week's time it was all but gone, no wound, not tender and all in a week's time. Nothing that I had used even came close to this! Now I keep it with me constantly. Any cut or wound I get, Manuka Honey. Any little sores on my leg, Manuka Honey and they don't get worse, they heal quickly.
On top of being an amazing wound care dressing, it tastes great! I put it on ice cream, in my protein shakes, any where I'd use regular honey. From what I read it has been known to help ulcers too. I like the PHOENIX Honey because I never worry about getting anything but the most potent strength, that's all I ever see offered and by me, the stronger the better! I wish I had the photographs from me being laid up for 2 months due to the sore on my leg to it being healed in a week with Manuka Honey. It's a great product and the gentleman I've dealt with there has been incredibly helpful and informative. They've got my business, their product did all the talking for them!
